Spencer
Putnam completed a Bachelor of Arts degree magna cum laude
at Berklee College of Music in 2008 with a degree in Music
Technology. During his studies at Berklee he focused on
electronic music production, sound design and composition
for advertising, animation, film and the web. Putnam
performed in settings including a Contemporary Middle East
Ensemble, Steel Drum Ensemble, Techno-Rave Ensemble,
various computer-music collaborations, jazz combos and an
improvisational jazz/fusion quartet.
In 2007, Spencer was elected President of Berklee's
Electronica Club and in 2008 received the Berklee Music
Technology Division's Brian Eno Production award. Spencer
currently live in Los Angeles, California workiong as a
freelance sound designer, DJ/remixer, composer and
producer.
Producing, DJing and remixing music under the moniker Vapor
Maché, Putnam’s debut album “People”
was self-released in 2008. He has released DJ sets/podcasts
through the Decimal.One (www.decimalone.com) collective out
of Boston and has performed with the likes of modern-jazz
trailblazer
Vijay Iyer
and electronic pop-rock outfit
Passion Pit.
He currently in the middle of remixing a track for
Brooklyn-based duo
Aislyn.
